At Dubai Children’s Choir, we believe every child should have the chance to sing. We want every child to feel like they belong.

Our choir welcomes children from all backgrounds and abilities. We provide quality music training in a friendly, supportive, and affordable setting. Singing together and learning new songs helps children build confidence, creativity, and friendships.

They also improve their singing skills and develop a lasting love for music. We are more than just a choir. We are a happy community where young singers find their voice and become part of something special.

Founder & Choir Director

Yousef Khan is a singer, pianist, composer, author, and music educator. He has a lifelong passion for helping young people discover joy, confidence, and community through music. As Founder and Choir Director of Dubai Children’s Choir, he combines high musical standards with a warm, inclusive approach that allows every child to thrive.

Trained in piano and voice, Yousef holds professional diplomas from Trinity College London (ATCL, LTCL) and a PGCE from the University of Nottingham. As a performer, he has appeared internationally, including as Tenor Soloist in Handel’s Messiah, and in leading roles in musical theatre productions such as Oliver!Fiddler on the Roof, and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.

Alongside performance, Yousef has spent many years composing for children and leading music programs across schools and communities. He has written the anthems for the Emirates Airline Festival of Literature, published the educational songbook Salaam, and authored The Practice Algorithm, a guide that helps families navigate the often complex maze of home practice with greater clarity, consistency, and joy.

Much of Yousef’s philosophy has been shaped by raising and guiding his son, Kabir. Kabir’s musical journey inspires his belief in nurturing young talent with patience, wonder, and love. He warmly welcomes children of all backgrounds and abilities, ensuring that every child is supported and valued as part of a diverse musical community.

At the heart of his work is a belief that music should be accessible, inspiring, and deeply human — a place where children can grow not only as singers, but as confident, compassionate young people.

Your Questions, Answered

  • Dubai Children’s Choir is a joyful community choir where children come together to sing, grow and belong. We believe every child should have the opportunity to experience the magic of music, regardless of background or previous experience. Our choir is built on inclusion, excellence and heart — offering high-quality musical training in a warm, supportive and affordable environment.

Through inspiring songs, musicianship training and the shared joy of singing together, children develop confidence, creativity, discipline and friendship. More than learning music, they become part of a caring community where young voices are nurtured, celebrated and inspired. We are not simply building a choir — we are building something special.

  • Dubai Children’s Choir is currently open to children aged 7–12  with groups thoughtfully organised so singers can learn and grow alongside others of a similar age and stage. As the choir grows, we hope to expand into additional ensembles for younger and older singers.

  • To join the Dubai Children’s Choir, parents are asked to complete the Audition Form to register interest. This helps us understand each child’s background and ensures we can place them in the most suitable group.

If a space is available, your child will be invited to attend a rehearsal. The audition process then takes place during and after this rehearsal, in a relaxed and child-friendly way. We believe children perform best when they feel at ease, so the process is designed to feel natural, encouraging, and pressure-free. After the audition, families will receive an email with the outcome within the week. If successful, you will also receive an invitation to officially join the choir and complete the registration process. Our aim is to make the experience as welcoming and straightforward as possible, while ensuring every child is placed in an environment where they can thrive musically and personally.

  • Not at all. Although the ability to read music is an advantage, no previous singing or music experience is required — just enthusiasm and a willingness to join in. Whether your child is already confident and musical or simply loves to sing at home, they will be welcomed and supported. We believe every child has a voice worth developing.

  • Children will develop healthy singing technique, musicianship, harmony singing, rhythm, performance skills, and ensemble awareness, all in a joyful and engaging way. They will explore wonderful repertoire, learn how to sing beautifully together, and grow in confidence, focus, and teamwork. Just as importantly, they will discover the joy and discipline that come from being part of a choir.

  • Very much so. Dubai Children’s Choir is founded on the belief that music should be inclusive, welcoming, and accessible to every child. Singing together can be a wonderfully supportive experience for children with a range of additional needs, offering structure, creativity, connection, and joy in a nurturing environment.

Choir can help develop confidence, communication, focus, and social connection, often in ways that feel natural and unpressured. The shared experience of singing as part of a group can be deeply encouraging, and many children flourish through the routine, friendships, and sense of belonging that choir brings.

We recognise that every child is unique, and we are always happy to speak with families about individual needs to help ensure your child feels supported and able to thrive. Our aim is simple: for every child to feel safe, valued and able to experience the joy of making music.

  • Rehearsals take place once a week, every Friday at 1 pm,  providing consistency while fitting comfortably around family and school life. Regular attendance helps children make steady musical progress and feel part of the ensemble.

  • Rehearsals are held at the Jalila Cultural Center for Children in Dubai every Friday at 1 pm. It is a welcoming and inspiring space designed to help children feel comfortable, focused, and excited to make music together.

  • Yes — and they are a very special part of choir life. Children will have opportunities to share what they are learning through informal sharings and performances throughout the year. These moments help build confidence, celebrate progress, and create memorable experiences for children and families alike.
